On Thursday over 100 people gathered outside the Alice Springs Hospital for a vigil in memory of the work of R Rubuntja, who was integral in the work of the Tangentyere Women's Family Safety Group.
In a speech to the vigil the group's co-coordinator, Shirleen Campbell said Ms Rubuntja was a proud town camper and was one of the backbones of the group.
"We always say we are not just numbers, we are not invisible women. Our sister, another one lost to us, is not just a number and we will not let her be invisible," Ms Campbell said.
