A call to break the cycle

22nd Mar 2021

A protest held outside the Uniting Church in Alice Springs today (March 22, 2021) called on all Australian governments to work to provide better job solutions for Aboriginal people.

Many Aboriginal speakers at the rally said the work for the dole CDP scheme needed to be abolished and asked the Federal Government to re-introduce the Community Development Employment Projects, or CDEP.

The rally also and called for better support systems and a more significant rise to Jobseeker payments.

In the below audio local First Nations people Pat Ansell Dodds, Chris Tomlins and Doreen McCormack spoke at the event.
