We need that equipment in the Alice Springs Hospital.... Donna AhChee CEO Central Australian Aboriginal Congress

25th Mar 2020

A peak Alice Springs based Aboriginal community controlled health organisation working to minimise the spread of corona virus in Central Australia has called on the Northern Territory Government to provide the necessary equipment to finalise virus tests.... instead of having to wait for up to 72 hours before they obtain a result.

Central Australian Aboriginal Congress CEO Donna Ahchee says while staff are able to do the initial tests locally… a 72 hour wait for results is too long.

Speaking on CAAMA Radio Ms AhChee says while efforts are currently underway to house people who might become infected with the virus… social distancing remains the best way of preventing the spread of coronavirus.
