Wave Hill Walk-off 54th Anniversary

21st Aug 2020

In 1966, 200 Gurindji stockmen, house servants and their families, started a walk-off in a strike that lasted nine years, to demand the return of traditional lands of the Gurindji people.

It took place at Wave Hill, a cattle station in Kalkarindji (formerly known as Wave Hill), Northern Territory, Australia and was led by Gurindji man Vincent Lingiari.
