Shining a light on a largely 'invisible disease'

25th Mar 2019

Thursday 21st of March marked National Close the Gap Day. During the day the award winning film Take Heart was screened in more than 30 locations across Australia.

Take Heart is a documentary which follows the life of families who go through the journey of living with Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD). RHD threatens the lives of thousands of Australians, despite the disease being largely removed from major cities in the country it continues to impact especially in remote Northern Territory Aboriginal communities.

On National Close the Gap Day CAAMA Radio spoke with Dr Bo Remenyi a Paediatric Cardiologist and Mike Hill Director of Take Heart, who organised the screening events.
