16th Dec 2019

State and Territory education ministers were in Mparntwe Alice Springs last week for the signing of a new education declaration as part of a ten yearly refresh of Australia’s Education system.

Two main goals were outlined in the newly renamed Alice Springs Mparntwe Education Declaration including the Australian education systems promote excellence and equity, and that all young Australians become confident and creative individuals who are active and informed members of the community.

Northern Territory Minister for Education Selena Uibo told CAAMA radio the guidelines and goals came following input from right across the country to determine people’s aspirations of Australia’s education system.

Speaking at Larapinta Primary School in Alice Springs the Federal Minister for Education Dan Tehan said it was important to make the announcement in Central Australia to acknowledge regional education and Aboriginal culture and knowledge.
