The introduction of the Human Rights Bill in Queensland could provide better protection for Aboriginal and Torres strait Islanders engaged in peaceful protests and  gatherings according the states peak body for civil liberties.

A study has shown national protection for places of significance to First Nations Peoples has weakened over the years.

The Northern Territory police are urging drivers who regularly use remote community roads to make sure they properly use seat-belts following recent incidents which involved unrestrained children travelling in vehicles.
