Alice Springs Mayor seeks clarification from Arrente custodians over the National Aboriginal Art Gallery.

Arrente custodians have withdrawn their support for the National Aboriginal Art Gallery project that was set to be built on the ANZAC Hill Precinct site.

Late last month Mera-Kuti Benedict Kngwarre Stevens & other Arrente custodians who have supported the building of the National Aboriginal Art Gallery on the ANZAC Hill precinct. This position has now changed.

Alice Springs Councillors met last week  to discuss the letter and have invited signatories to the letter to clarify their position on the proposed location.

The council also has received a letter from Deputy Chief Minister Nicole Manison which included an offer to acquire Anzac Oval, however in a statement Chief Minister Michael Gunner has said without the traditional owners for the project at this site, consideration will need to be given to the future of the project.
