A  recognised leader in the field of Aboriginal child and family welfare in Australia says people in the Northern Territory are the repository of culture for the nation  and any outcomes from  the Royal commission into Youth Detention must  play a significant role in  protecting and preserving  this culture.

Professor Muriel Bamblett , a Yorta Yorta and Dja Dja Wurrung woman who  is the  CEO of the Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency was a Board Member on the NT Board of Inquiry into the Child Protection System in  2009.

Prof Bamblett says the Northern Territory is in a unique position  and all Aboriignal Australians  should recognise it has a very strong cultural base  that needs to be protected into the future...

Speaking on CAAMA Radio Professor Bamblett shared her ongoing  concern for the rapidly growing  numbers  of Aborignal children being removed from their families country and culture.
