New research suggests prison rehabilitation programs that "fail to acknowledge language, culture, traditions and current life situations of Aboriginal and Torres strait Islander  offenders are unlikely to  work and could also contribute to further offending.

 Chairman of the Central Australian Aboriignal Congress and  veteran rights campaigner  William Tilmouth  has also  called for  the basic  necessities that most Australians take for granted.

Alice Springs residents might have a coal mine in their back yard in the not too distant future following a reported deal with a US- based mining company.
