Local Aboriginal Elders say while  they are disappointed to see the violence on the streets of Kalgoorlie, their people have been living there  for a long, long time, and are part of this community, whether other people like it or not.

Up to a dozen police were injured, and car and building windows  smashed when a protest over the death of an Aboriginal teenager in Kalgoorlie Western Australia turned violent.

A project to maintain Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture in remote communities is seeking applications from organisations. A peak indigenous media body is encouraging business to apply and help archive Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander video and audio content.
