The appointment of  a former Northern Territory Chief Justice to  head the Royal commission into  youth in detention in the NT. has been  questioned  following   claims that  the  the lack of  any  Aboriginal input into the process has  already challenged  its legitimacy.

Alistair  Nicholson, .a  former Chief Justice of the Family Court of Australia says because Aboriginal inmates make up the majority of the NT prison population and  that the  situation strongly relates to the Aboriginal community of the NT.... an Aboriginal Commissioner should  have appointed alongside Brian Ross Martin.

Olga Havnen , a former principal advisor on  Aboriginal policy in NT Dept of the Chief Minister  says government has a major job to allay concerns  and build confidence in the system.
