We need to be there for people during the holidays
An APY Lands exchange program is providing SA students with an opportunity for a first-hand experience of remote Aboriginal communities. Year 10 students from St John’s Grammar in Adelaide travel each year to the APY Lands as part of an exchange program with the Pipalyatjara Anangu School.
St Johns Grammar teacher Brian Wicks who helped organise the exchange program, says it offers a chance for students to experience the reality of community life.
Mr Wicks says with current technology and the connectivity of social media, students remain in contact long after the program ends.
