​​Aboriginal custodians lodge a native title claim for more than 1000 square km in Western Victoria's Grampians region.

The Gariwerd Grampians National Park native title claim covers 1672 square km and if successful  would see  traditional owners jointly manage the National Park with Parks Victoria.

Director of the Barengi Gadjin Land Council, Brett Harrison told CAAMA Radio the native title claim is an  important step in the long journey towards recognition.
