43 homes in the community of Nyirripi receive major upgrades.

30th May 2016

The conclusion of major housing upgrades to 43 homes at a remote Territory community has seen 40% of the works completed by Aboriginal people.

In August 2015 43 houses at Nyirripi  440kms north west of Alice Springs were commissioned by the NT Department of Housing to receive major upgrades as part of  Stronger Futures.

Central Desert Regional Council, Director of Works Glenn Marshall says the project has seen local people improve living conditions within the community, while gaining skills for lasting employment.

The Central Desert Regional Council was awarded the contract to upgrade all the community based houses, which included painting the houses interiors and exteriors, fitting new plumbing, tiling and extensive cleaning.
