Red Storm (2000)

There is one phenomenon that is hard to predict and even harder to prepare for. It is an unrelenting wall of red dirt, swirling like a tornado tipped on its side creating a tempest of blinding chocking darkness. It is the Australian dust storm.

Through the eyes of scientist Grant McTainish we investigate the causes and consequences of these monsters of the outback and give a detailed look at one of the most awesome natural forces ever seen on earth.

Early in the year 2000 CAAMA Productions was selected to produce a 60 minute documentary on the Australian dust storms for National Geographic in the United States. Work on this project was completed in June 2000.The program “Red Storm” was broadcast in late 2000.

A documentary commissioned by National Geographic.
