The Indigenous Marathon Project (IMP) is a six-month health, wellbeing, and leadership journey, every year a group of young indigenous men and women apply to take part in the world famous New York City Marathon.
Members are supported by IMP Head Coach Damian Tuck, and world marathon champion Robert de Castella. Some of the 2022 IMP Marathon Squad joined CAAMA Radio to share their story of what drives them.
Speaking to CAAMA Radio, Robert de Castella said that, “It’s like a ceremony… where you are stripped bare and all that’s left over that last 5 or 10 kilometres, is your strength and your purpose and who you actually are and why you’re doing this… and you need to draw on that in the marathon but you also need to draw on it in life.”
