Remembering our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ANZACS

Wangkangurru man Raymond Finn’s great-grandfather Jack Ludgate fought at Gallipoli. In 2015 Mr Finn  joined  a group of students and mentors from Ntaria community 130 kilometres west of Alice Springs  and spent five days riding along the western MacDonald ranges to participate in the Alice Springs ANZAC Day parade.

The Australian Waler horse was the common mount for the light horsemen, as it was strong and hardy, which was needed in the harsh desert climate. The waler was officially recognised as an Australian breed in 1986.
