Mick Edwards from Fitzroy Stars Gym in Melbourne where Rose served as a board member says his long time friend was a very talented man.
Mr Edwards told CAAMA Radio that people are extremely proud of Lionel Rose’s lifetime achievements from country lad to international superstar.
He says Lionel was a mentor to both Aboriginal people and non-aboriginal people living in the Fitzroy area.
