GRAMMY Award-winning country artist Kenny Rogers has kicked off his Australian tour with a $10000 donation to Queensland flood victims.

Kenny Rogers flew into Tamworth yesterday and announced today that he would give $10,000 to the Queensland Flood appeal. Rogers who starts his Australian tour in Tamworth gave a press conference prior to his first concert at (TREC) Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre.
Big Surprise at Tamworth Awards
Late on Saturday, the winner of the Golden Guitar award for Album of the Year was announced. Lee Kernaghan was named for his album Planet Country – the very last prize to be presented.
But as the packed audience warmly applauded Kernaghan’s triumph, the album Still Walking by ARIA award-winning country artist Graeme Connors was played over the sound system.
