Purple House Exhibition – the ripple affect created by the Pintupi and Luritja peoples.

The strength and resilience of Central Australia’s Pintupi/ Luritja people  has been  acknowledged at the  recently opened  Purple House exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW

The  exhibition celebrates the  21st anniversary of the Western desert Dialysis Appeal which raised more than a million dollars toward the provision of a renal dialysis service at a time when  people were forced to relocate off country for treatment.

Curated by Art Gallery of NSW Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art curator Coby Edgar, The Purple House features eight paintings created by several Pintupi artists between 1999 and 2015. The exhibition includes three works from the Art Gallery’s collection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art, as well as significant loans from private collections. 

Larakia/Jingili woman Ms Edgar reflects of the perseverance of the Pintupi/ Luritja and Purple House which has now expanded its services into 18 remote communities.
