Current Projects

Here at CAAMA Productions, we’re busy with the 23rd series of Nganampa documentaries. The working title is ‘Mother Tongue’ and it’s a series that focuses on Indigenous languages. Did you know that experts predict that half of the world’s 6800 languages will be extinct within 2 generations? And here in Australia, we only have around one hundred Indigenous languages remaining, and all of these are at risk of being lost in the next 10-20 years. So this series takes a good look at the amazing work being done within communities around the country, to revitalize and reclaim our nation’s precious Indigenous languages. Watch this space and we’ll be sure to post up pics and news of how the series is progressing!

And in other news on the Productions front, Production Assistant and Editor Dylan is hard at work in the edit suite cutting together a ‘Best of’ film featuring extracts from our favourite Nganampas of the past 3 decades….No mean feat considering there are over a hundred episodes that have been made since this series started. The ‘Best of’ film will be shown during NAIDOC Week here in Alice Springs, on Saturday July 9th at the Araluen Arts Centre. This year the NAIDOC theme is, “Change: The next step is ours”. So make sure you pop the date in your diary because we’d love to see you there to celebrate over twenty years of great Indigenous stories on the screen. And while you’ve got your diary out, mark up the highly-anticipated screening of Beck Cole’s debut feature ‘Here I Am’ which will be at Araluen Centre on Friday 8th July.
