Wiri Yani U Thangani "Women's Voices" - June Oscar invites you to speak up

28th Feb 2018

Wiyi Yani U Thangani means “Women’s Voices” in the Western Australian language of Bunuba… This is also the language of June Oscar, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner, who has spent her life advocating for Indigenous Australian languages, social justice and women’s issues.

Ms Oscar is now leading a nation-wide conversation named Wiyi Yani U Thangani, for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women to come together and voice what truly matters to them in their lives, what challenges they face and what their aspirations are for themselves, their families and their futures.

CAAMA’s Teghan Hughes spoke with Ms Oscar to find out how women have been engaging and what the other locations will be hosting Wiyi Yani U Thangani…
