STRONG VOICES: Monday 9th July, 2018 [NAIDOC WEEK 2018]

9th Jul 2018

HAPPY NAIDOC WEEK …especially all the wonderful women, mothers, sisters, aunties, nieces and grandmothers.

The theme this year is ‘Because of her, We can’ and it is really a gorgeous theme celebrating incredible aboriginal women – historically and the essential role that women have played - and continue to play - as active and significant role models at the community, local, state and national levels.

So, on the show today we’ve got some very special women to play for you…INCLUDING:

·     Some representatives from the Strong Grandmothers Group from the Central Desert Region who popped into CAAMA last week to let us know all about their trip to Melbourne… where they will be meeting up with other incredible Grandmother groups and to speak at the Students of Sustainability conference…

·     We also have some local Aboriginal women letting us know who the special women in their lives are and who inspires them…

·     And to finish the show today we hear from Northern Territory Minister Ken Vowels -  who has recently been handed the portfolio for Aboriginal Affairs from Chief Minister Gunner.
