STRONG VOICES: Friday 7th December, 2018

7th Dec 2018

Werte! Welcome to STRONG VOICES!!

In the show today…. We have:

·     An update on the story of Denishar Woods… Denishar is the 11 year old girl who was electrocuted in her public housing property in Perth earlier this year. The electrocution has left her with severe brain damage, made her paraplegic and she now requires constant care. Before the electrocution, her mother had let housing know of the electric fault at the house… We have an update on her and the government’s response to helping the family…

·     We also have a piece to play for you all about TREATY… it is courtesy of our good friends and NITV’s Talking Treaty Program… it’s got lots of great information on What a Treaty actually is? And what First Nations Australians need to know before going into Treaty Negotiation…

·     And finally, we hear from Co-chair of the National Congress of Australia’s First Peoples Rod Little talking the Special Envoy Tony Abbott’s Statement to Parliament on Remote Indigenous Education…

Produced by Damien Williams, Erin Liddle and Kyle Dowling. Treaty Audio Courtesy of NITV.
