23rd Feb 2018

Aboriginal voices have had a strong presence in the recent  fracking inquiry according  to the head of a new campaign which is urging  the Northern Territory Government to hold a referendum on whether to ban the practice.

Samantha Phelan, spokesperson for the frackvote campaign, is urging Territorians  to show their support for a public vote on the issue. The campaign also features a television advertisement which will premiere this week.

Ms Phelan spoke to Philippe Perez that a referendum will demonstrate Territorians investment ahead of the independent Scientific Inquiry into Hydraulic Fracturing in the Northern Territory report, which will be released in late March.
