The newly elected South Australian Government has decided to put on hold any progress on the negotiations for any treaties with the state's Aboriginal nations.
The state’s Premier Steven Marshall said his government was instead wishing to focus on policy for Aboriginal people across areas including education, child protection, health and jobs.
Prior to their defeat at the recent state election, the previous Labor Government had appointed senior Aboriginal community leader Roger Thomas as treaty commissioner last year, but he is now been instructed to provide a report on what’s been negotiated so far.
SA Premier Steven Marshall spoke to CAAMA's Philippe Perez to talk about the decision as well a few other topics including their proposed National Indigenous Art Gallery plan for Adelaide which has ruffled a few feathers here in Alice Springs Mbantwe.
