Alice Springs International Women's Day event

On the 8th of March International Women's Day was celebrated globally but due to rain and storms in Central Australia the event was re-scheduled for today, the 14th of March.  Hosted by the Institute for Aboriginal Development Arrernte Women Elders Program together with the Arrernte and Central Australia Aboriginal Strong Women's Group

The event started with a welcome to country from Aboriginal Elder Sabella Turner which followed by speeches from community members Kerri LeRossignol, Christine Palmer, Sarah Carmody, Amelia Turner, Phenya Clarke, Elaine Peckham and Karina Akarana.

There where also stall holders from local organisations CONGRESS, CAAFLU, IAD, NPY Women's Council, CAWLS and ASYAS.
