Calls for Old Parliament House to become site for Aboriginal self-management...

Veteran Tasmanian Aboriginal rights campaigner Michael Mansell says a lack of political will at the Federal level  continues  to stall  efforts to allow his people to have some degree  of say and control over their own destinies.

Speaking during National Reconciliaition Week  in Hobart  late last week  Mr Mansell says despite  the  sentiment conveyed in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and  ongoing efforts for treaty's at the state and territory level… the Federal government  is the only parliament in Australia specifically given the constitutional power to pass laws for aboriginal people   

Mr Mansell has called on the Federal Government   to  allow Aboriginal people to take over the administration of Aboriginal Affairs at Old Parliament House in Canberra.
