The Advantages of Science for Aboriginal Students

4th Dec 2017

For tens of thousands of years, Aboriginal cultures have carried a strong understanding of various sciences, from astronomy to botany and more.

This is exciting news for Professor Michelle Livill the head of the Bachelor of Science program at Melbourne University who on the lookout for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander high school students in years 9 & 10, to study science in university through the Residential Indigenous Science Experience, otherwise known as RISE.

This year’s program wrapped up last week but the university is looking for students interested in studying sciences for next year’s program.

Professor Livill is chair of the RISE steering committee at the university of Melbourne and she spent some time having a chat with Philippe Perez about the project.
