Sean Choolbra is one of Australia's best Aboriginal stand-up comedians. Hailing from Townsville in QLD, he has been performing for almost 20 years throughout Australia and internationally at some of the world’s most prestigious comedy festivals including the Edinburgh Fringe. He has even performed for the Dalai Lama and Prince Charles.
But it was the young ones at the Gap Youth Center who were treated to an energetic night of comedy, dancing and basketball when Sean Choolbra visited Mpartnwe Alice Springs last weekend.
Sean brought his own style of comedy.. an infusion of comedy, rap, singing and dancing.
I caught up with Sean that night, right after he’d finished dancing to a Michael Jackson melody, compete with sunglasses, red leather jacket and glove…..
We discuss comedy and international festivals and then Sean explains how comedy has always been a part of culture...
