Australia's peak Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representative body for has welcomed the appointment of new members to the Prime Ministers Indigenous Advisory Council and says it to work with the new council to progress significant issues.
National Congress co-chair Jacquie Huggins says it is important to have the widest range of views and opinions provided to Government..
New members that have been appointed for three years include:
Andrea Mason - CEO of the NPY Women's Council
Susan Murphy - CEO of Winun Ngari Aboriginal Corporation
Roy Ah See - chair of the New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council
Chris Sarra - founder and chairman of the Stronger Smarter Institute
Ngiare Brown - Professor of Indigenous Health at the University of Wollongong and Djambawa Marawili - traditional owner from Baniyala
have retained their positions on the council but former chair Warren Mundine has been overlooked by the Prime Minister.
