Disturbing evidence presented to the Royal Commission into the Protection and Detention of Children in the Northern Territory  public hearings in Alice Springs last week  has outlined a broken  system that  constantly failed both  inmates and staff.

Royal Commission community engagement officer Nick Espie  says  that research evidence presented confirmed that many  of the young inmates were likely to  re offend unless  things change.

While most of the evidence presented to this point has been heavily focussed on youth in detention, Mr Espie says the  Royal Commission will soon turn its focus onto  children in care.
