Waltja talks up Indigenous Governance Awards

Waltja “bringing families together” – was started by Aboriginal women leaders from Central Australian communities. The organisation supports families across the NT to be able to access services, find employment, and take leadership in their own communities.

All of Waltja’s programs are focussed around Aboriginal families being able to manage their own lives.  Executive Director April Martin and Program Manager  Kate Lawrence are proud of the programs that they deliver.

The Indigenous Governance Awards (IGAs) were created by Reconciliation Australia in partnership with BHP Billiton to identify, celebrate and promote effective Indigenous governance.The IGAs are about sharing success from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations around Australia and showcasinghow Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are driving change on the ground.
