  • The Federal Minister for Tourism, Martin Ferguson says that both government and the tourism sector had failed to provide training for aboriginal people so they were able to work in the tourism industry.
  • Aboriginal elders from the Top End community of Ramingingying have lashed out at the continuation of the Northern Territory intervention claiming “Many of their people are feeling stigmatised by the blanket policy that brands them as alcoholics, irresponsible parents and child molesters.”
  • A west Australian elder says Aboriginal youth are caught in a continuous cycle of incarceration but that this could be turned around with positive moves such as leadership programs, special boarding schools and more educational support.
